Dog school, that is. Grab a pooch and a handful of tasty treats and get to class. Help with teaching shelter dogs to sit, stay and walk calmly on a leash. It will make them much more adoptable.
Post photos of shelter animals (with brief descriptions about them) in public areas. At your school, the library or around town. For example – “This is Storm. He’s a lovely boy with a friendly bark”.
Donate a little time on the weekend to visiting shelter cats. Play with them, groom them and generally give them something to purr about. Socialised cats make better placements.
Organise an event for all your friends and family and donate the money to your local shelter. A fete, a dog walkathon or a garden party are great ways to raise money and make new friends too.
