Time to gather your friends for some fun activities and a bit of healthy competition!

An Olympic-themed birthday party provides you with loads of cool ways to have fun with your friends. Set up some race stations and let the games begin!

Invitation

Invite your friends to your Olympic extravaganza with a ticket to the games.

Decor

Olympic bibs

Guests will feel like the real deal with an athletic bib. Make one each using a length of ribbon and hemmed cotton squares. You can write names and numbers onto the square, or print them on with transfer paper.

Medals

Use Olympic medals as décor before you hand them out to winners. Make your own with ribbon and hang them around the treats table.

Olympic logo

It's the easiest logo to replicate. Just recreate the rings by cutting them out of coloured cardboard, then stick them up on the wall behind the treats table.

Podium

Use crates or sturdy boxes covered in a sheet to create a medal podium.

Activities

Divide guests into teams and set up stations around the area. At each station, friends can complete a task. Here are a few ideas:

  • Egg and spoon race
  • Three-legged race
  • Apple bobbing
  • Hopping on the spot for the longest
  • Crab-walk scramble
  • Hula-hoop-a-thon

How to make clay Olympic medals

If you want to try your hand at something creative, your guests can make medals out of clay.

You'll need

  • Soft, pliable clay
  • Gold paint
  • Brushes
  • Ribbon

Method

  • Use an upside down drinking glass to create the perfect circle for your medal. Remember to make a small hole on the top of your circle to thread the ribbon through.
  • Mark your medal with the Olympic logo, or anything you want!
  • Bake according to instructions on the clay packaging.
  • Once it’s cooled completely, paint with gold paint. You might need to wait for it to dry and do another coat.
  • Once the paint is dry, thread through the ribbon and you’re done!

Tip

Another fun idea is to take your favourite cookies, wrap them in gold paper and attach ribbon to the back. Then you've got an edible medal and a nice party pack idea!
